During May walleyes start migrating to the west end of Lake Erie. As fish complete their spawning run in the Detroit River, Raisin River near Monroe and other rivers on the west end of Lake Erie the population of hungry walleyes swells to the point that there are thousands and thousands of walleye in the western basin by June. The port of choice for this bonanza is Trout's Yacht Basin, LLC just north of Monroe Michigan on Lake Erie. This location is centrally located and typically puts us closest to the large schools of walleyes roaming Lake Erie in June.  Walleye fishing here in June is nothing short of spectacular.

The preferred technique on Lake Erie is to troll for walleyes. We run a combination of baits including spoons, body baits, bottom bouncers or harnesses depending on the walleyes preference on any given day. We employ planner boards, slide divers and down riggers in addition to weight forward spinners depending on the walleyes preference at that time. Limit catches are typical from late May into July in the western basin of Lake Erie.

Quality rods, reels, and the bait are furnished so you donít have to worry about having the right tackle. All of the bait, tackle, and quality rods and reels are supplied for you to use at no extra charge.

Our primary boat "hooked" is a 30í Baha Cruisers Sportfisherman with twin inboard engines. The layout of this boat is as near to perfect as we have found for fishing. The deck is open and flat. The engines are fully below deck so there are no exposed engine boxes to stumble around. The flush deck extends all the way to the helm and dinette area to the transom. The 10-Ĺí beam and open floor plan leave plenty of room for a group of six fisherman. The boat is rigged to run as many as 16 rods. Whether you are fighting a fish in the back of the boat or relaxing in the dinette area you are never more than a few steps away from the next pole to catch a fish. This boat also has a hardtop over the dinette and helm; a nice feature when you have had to much sun on the hot days. On cooler days we run the cabin heaters for added comfort. The forward cabin has a private head (bathroom) for your comfort on the water.

Our newest boat "hooked again" is a 22í Twin Vee Center Console with twin outboard engines.

The layout of this boat works well for trolling walleyes and great for drift fishing for walleyes. The center console design allows for 360 degrees of unobstructed fish-ability. With over 15 foot of open space down each side of the boat it is easy for six fisherman (3 per side) to fish for walleyes. The boat is rigged to run as many as 16 rods. Most days we find it hard to keep more than 6 or 8 rods in the water as the fish bite faster than we can get rods reset. The center console area has a head (bathroom) for your comfort while on the water. Since Center console boats are more open to the weather we equipped the boat with a T-Top to offer shade when desired. In cooler weather the boat is rigged with strata glass curtains from the front bow deck to the front of the T-Top. These curtains and T-Top become a wind shield for everyone onboard. This feature encloses the front third of the boat to break the wind on cooler days and has the benefit of keeping everyone dry on the misty days. Itís difficult to have fun catching fish if you are cold or wet. We just want you to catch lots of fish and be comfortable while doing it.

Whether you fish with us aboard  hooked   or  hooked again  you will find the boats have been equipped with all the required safety equipment and much more. Your safety is our first concern. For this reason all of the safety systems have a backup. Two marine band radios, two or more depth finders, two GPS receivers for navigation, multiple charter plotters and displays, two bilge pumps and twin engines. We have radars onboard both vessels to track weather and for navigation in limited visibility.  Both boats are pictured on the home page of our website.

When you charter with us you will receive personal attention and instruction from the captain. We are glad to set lines and take fish off the hooks so that you can keep busy catching fish. Over the years many of our customers have become involved in setting lines and netting fish. We are happy to teach you the routine so you can be as involved in the whole experience as you like. Limit catches are typical this time of the year in the western basin of Lake Erie.
