We fish the hottest bite
in the hottest ports
Salmon - Lake Trout - Steelhead - Walleye - Perch
Perch fisherman on Lake St. Clair look forward to the fall perch run every year. As the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler the perch fishing gets better and better. Imagine catching a bucket full of perch. Imagine your kids catching their first fish. What a great family activity.
Morning and afternoon charters seven days a week. The morning charter starts at seven or seven thirty and the afternoon charter starts at one or two o’clock. The days are longer in September than they are in November so times are adjusted to the daylight hours. Perch fishing in the fall is very good on both the morning and afternoon charter. Many of our group want to spend more than a half day on the water. You can extend your charter by an hour or two if you wish. We also offer full day charters. The rates and reservations page will give you all the costs and details.
When you charter with us you will receive personal attention and instruction from the Captain. Bait, tackle, quality light and ultralite action rods and reels are included for you to use at no extra charge. If you have a favorite fishing pole you would like to use, you are welcome to bring it onboard. Each angler can fish up to two rods in Michigan. The boat is equipped with many rod holders making it easy to fish a dozen poles without tangling lines. We will be glad to help by baiting your lines or taking fish off the hooks. When the bite is “hot” the Captain will keep busy baiting hooks so you can keep busy catching fish. This last season we caught over 4000 perch averaging well over 100 perch per trip. We even had several days where we keep over 200 perch. The size varies from day to day usually getting bigger as the fall weather cools. Typically, the perch are in the eight to ten inch size with some notable twelve inchers added to the catch. The largest perch we caught last fall was 13-1/8 inches.
In addition to perch we catch a variety of other fish while perch fishing. The past season the other species included musky, northern pike, walleye, rock bass and most notably a lot of big smallmouth bass.
Our boats are docked on the Clinton River jut a few minutes from the open water of Lake St. Clair. This location assures lots of fishing time and little travel time no matter where the perch are “schooled up”. Summer hangs on much longer in southeastern Michigan than it does on the northern Great Lakes. We enjoy many days well into October where light jackets give way to short sleeves by mid morning. This is a great way to spend a day on the water.
Perch charters are offered aboard both of our boats in the fall. Bring up to six people in your group. There is plenty of room for everyone onboard.
Our primary perch boat in the fall is “hooked” a 30’ Baha Cruisers Sportfisherman with twin inboard engines. The layout of this boat is as near to perfect as we have found for fishing. The deck is open and flat. Engines are fully below deck so there are no exposed engine boxes to stumble around. There are no steps in the fishing area either. The flush deck extends from the transom forward to the dinette and helm area. A 10-˝’ beam and open floor plan leave plenty of room for a group of six fisherman. The sides of the boat are nice and high for a secure feeling with children on board. The electronics package on this boat is awesome. We have rigged this boat to run as many as 16 rods. Whether you are fighting a fish in the back of the boat or relaxing in the dinette area you are never more than a few steps away from the next pole to catch a fish. Hooked also has a hardtop over the dinette and helm; a nice feature when you have had to much sun on the hot days. On cooler days we run cabin heaters for added comfort. The forward cabin has a private head (bathroom) for your comfort on the water.
We’ve added a second boat “hooked again” primarily for Perch, Walleye and Bass fishing. This 22’ Center Console catamaran is made by Twin Vee. The ride and stability of the hull design is awesome. The layout includes bathroom facilities in the center console area, a very larger flat front deck area which is used as a casting platform, and an unbelievable amount of fishing space up and down both sides of the boat. We have equipped this boat to the max with a first class electronics package, quality rods, reels and tackle for each type of charter fishing we offer. In addition to twin Suzuki four stroke outboards we have installed a bow mounted and a transom mounted trolling motor. Whether we are trolling, back trolling, sliding the current or vertical jigging these power options assure the right trolling speeds and boat control for every fishing presentation. In cooler weather the boat is rigged with strata glass curtains across bow deck. This feature encloses the front third of the boat to break the wind and keep everyone warm and dry without restricting headroom or fishability. We use this boat extensively in the summer and fall for perch and also bass fishing.
“Hooked again” is less costly to operate than our larger boat “hooked” . We pass the saving on to you as a special price for smaller groups of 1-4 people. The rates and reservations page will give you a complete breakdown of our rates and charter options.
